Three important principles in architecture from the Vitruvian-style point of view

یک سازه باید محکم باشد و تحت تاثیر نیروهایی نظیر زلزله، نزولات جوی، باد و درجه حرارت که موجب تخریب ساختمان می‌شود مقاوم باشد. در واقع برای ایستا بودن یک سازه باید مشخصات فنی اعم از کاربرد مصالح مرغوب رعایت شود.

کارایی

منظور از کارایی این می‌باشد که هدف از ساخت سازه و طراحی آن چه می‌باشد و مواردی که نیاز است این سازه در بر داشته باشد را برای آن طراحی و در نقشه و ساخت آن گنجاند.

زیبایی

یک سازه باید در کنار ایستا و کارا بودن خود نهایت زیبا بودن را داشته باشد.
معمار می‌بایست خلاق باشد و در تمامی آثار خود نهایت خلاقیت و نوآوری هوش خود را به رخ بکشد.
مهندس معمار علاوه بر خلاقیت باید طرح هایی بی همتا را پیدا کند در واقع چیزی که معمار را زنده نگه میدارد طرح منحصر به فرد اوست.
در نهایت معمار باید آثار و طرح هایی که با نوآوری و هوش خود کشف کرده است را اجرا کند.
هنر عمران چندین تعاریف از معماری ذکر کرده که با توجه به آنها می‌توانیم درک کنیم که هرکدام مختص زمان خود بوده و با توجه به تغییرات و دگرگونی های اعمال شده، تعریف ها نیز تغییر پیدا کرده اند
